Standard  Operating Procedure- Vacuum Circuit Breaker

Vacuum Circuit Breaker Operation (To Close the Breaker)

In the HT Panel keep the Selector switch in Local mode

Check the indicators R,Y and B are glowing on respective HT incomer feeder

Check Vacuum breaker spring is in charged condition by visually checking the indicator in the breaker panel .  If not charged then charge using manual charger rod.

Check and ensure that protective relays (Over current, Earth fault, Earth Leakage, Over/Under Voltage etc) are in normal mode, reset if required

Ensure that VCB OFF indication lamp is glowing

Ensure that Trip circuit healthy lamp indication is glowing

Turn the "TNC" control switch towards "C" position .The Arrow indicator in Vacuum breaker towards  "BREAKER ON". This means the Breaker is closed. The BREAKER ON indication lamp will also glow

Power can now be distributed to other feeders.

Vacuum Circuit Breaker Operation (To Open the Breaker)

Turn the "TNC" control switch towards "C" position .The Arrow indicator in Vacuum breaker towards "BREAKER OFF". This means the Breaker is closed. The BREAKER OFF indication lamp will also glow

If the Breaker is not opened electrically with "TNC" selector switch, push the OFF button in the Vacuum Breaker.
